What do we mean by creation?
There is creation as recorded in Genesis the first book of the Bible. Many believe it literally. Others using archaeological evidence which pointed to the earth being billions of years old and life’s long period of evolution discrediting the seven day creation story. They even imply from this that there is no God.
I believe the Genesis story is not literal but symbolic and in a form which people of the time could make most sense.
Can there be a different form of creation?
Scientists tell us that the universe is expanding and by reversing the figures calculate that some 13 billion years ago it all started from a single point. The starting process was named the Big Bang Theory. Fine, suddenly out of nothing we have creation by way of a big Bang. How and why did that happen, who lit the touch paper? That had to be explained scientifically, particularly for atheists. Numerous theories have surfaced such as multiple universes. Will they ever be anything more than theories? I am a strong supporter of science helping us to understand the world we live in and bringing many benefits, although there have been negatives.
Let’s move on following the Big Bang. Even then it would have amounted to nothing if a special particle was not around to ‘convert that energy into matter’ The Hadron Collider particle accelerator has found traces of such a particle named The Higgs Boson particle (some call it the God particle). Is that convenient chance or something else?
Amazingly neutrons, protons & electrons come together in an incredible structure we have named atoms. The incredible atom with neutral and positive energy in the centre and negative energy flying around outside, the whole thing being mainly space. Not just one type of atom with one set of particles, but others with two sets, three sets and ultimately up to over ninety. They consist mainly of space but each having its own properties and potential use or purpose. Many able to combine with others (molecules) increasing the range of properties (remarkable).
Although travelling away from each other at great speed many come together to form stars, planets and galaxies.
One thing I find amazing is that circulating system
-electrons around a nucleus
-Planets around stars
-stars around galaxies
And mainly nothing in between
As already said atoms don’t stay in that format but can come together in different groupings (molecules) with even greater potential. In some situations inanimate items can become animate –many scientists believe that there could be many planets on which the conditions could be right for single cell life.
To start Multiple cell life requires two single cells to merge with the antibodies of one not destroying the other. I understand that examination of DNA shows that all creatures and plants came from one original multi-cell. So it only happened once or did the others die out leaving no evidence?
Is our Earth unique? Maybe not but are special events/circumstances which we are told are relevant to human life on our planet include – its size, distance from the sun, tilted axis, moon, ice ball period, elimination of the dinosaurs, is that enough?
Yes there are billions of stars increasing the ‘chance’ that the same might happen somewhere else – would that be chance?
My personal conclusion! DESIGN surely this cannot be chance, but a design beyond human comprehension with an incredible potential including intelligent life.
